Jan 08, 2014 (newstodate): Despite a rebound during the last few months, Finnair Cargo ended 2013 with a drop in volumes, compared to 2012.
A total of 146,654 tonnes of cargo was carried, down one percent, y-o-y.
55.3 percent of the carrier's volumes were carried on the airline's extensive Asian passenger route network, and here volumes dropped 3.8 percent in 2013, to 81,027 tonnes.
Cargo on scheduled Finnair passenger flights dropped 0.8 percent, y-o-y, to 113,906 tonnes, while cargo on freighter flights was down 1.6 percent to 32,514 tonnes.
In December, the picture was lighter, with volumes up five percent to 11,760 tonnes including 6,209 tonnes of Asian loads that were, however, still down 2.9 percent.
The volumes in December were, however, boosted by an increase by 43.9 percent in volumes carried by freighters, to 2,766 tonnes.
In 2013, the over-all load cargo factor was down 1.7 ppt, to 65.6 percent, while it was down by 0.7 ppt in December, to 65.0 percent.
