Jan 14, 2014 (newstodate): Russia and the UK have negotiated a new agreement on air services between London and St Petersburg.
As part of the agreement, the two parties will open up for traffic by a second designated carrier, to supplement the existing traffic between the two destinations by Aeroflot and British Airways.
From the UK side, expectations are that easyJet will most probably apply for the designation as it already operates to Moscow from London since March 18, 2013 and since March 28, 2013, from Manchester.
Russia is also designate a 2nd carrier that might be Transaero, with Rossiya as a second option that is, however, less likely considering the sales agreement between Aeroflot and Rossiya.
