Jan 06, 2014 (newstodate): The Russian aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 has reportedly been operating on Maghreb flights during a test period, now concluded.
Royal Air Maroc has been operated one wet-leased Superjet 100 for two weeks around the turn of the year up to January 05, 2014, in order to assess the aircraft's capabilities on its route network.
The Superjet will compete with similar aircraft types Embraer 190 and Bombardier CS100 as the carrier is to decide later this year on its future fleet, with 12-15 aircraft expected to be ordered for medium-haul routes.
In the fleet of Royal Air Maroc are four ATR 42 aircraft used on regional and domestic routes, as well as 30 Boeing 737-800 and 12 Boeing 737-700, including six freighters, used on medium-haul routes.
For long-haul flights the carrier is operating on Boeing 747-400 and four 767-300 aircraft.
