Jan 29, 2014 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo has now phased out its first MD-11F freighter in the process of gradually moving towards a Boeing 777F fleet.
The first to go, and the oldest in the fleet, has now been ferried to USA for scrapping, while the company took delivery of its first of five new Boeing 777F ordered in November 2013.
One more MD-11F will leave the fleet this summer, and in the meantime Lufthansa Cargo has taken delivery of its second Boeing 777F, with the third to follow in February 2014, and the fourth by the end of June.
A decision on the remaining 16 MD-11F aircraft will be made in 2015.
