Jan 17, 2014 (newstodate): Bombardier has announced a further delay to the commercial entry into service of their much anticipated new CS aircraft.
The CS100 is now expected to have its EIS by the end of 2015 - and the EIS of the larger model, the CS300 will probably follow some six months later, indicating a first commercial flight in summer 2016.
Initially, the first deliveries were expected by 2013 but the first flight by the CS100 aircraft was only on September 26, 2013, about one year later than originally planned.
Among the customers to be hit by this further delay is the Latvian carrier airBaltic that has placed firm orders for delivery of 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft, with deliveries originally slated to start in December, 2015.
The new fleet of medium-range aircraft will replace airBaltic's eight Boeing 737-300 and five 737-500 aircraft complementing the 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft used on regional routes.
