Jan 30, 2014 (newstodate): The Icelandic low-cost carrier WOW Air is in deep troubles ahead of its planned launch of Transatlantic services between Iceland and the USA.
The carrier has applied for four slots at Keflavik Airport - two in the morning and two in the late afternoon.
Icelandair will have 150 arrivals and departures on routes to 11 US destinations during the summer schedule, roughly at the same time as planned by WOW Air.
In November 2013, Iceland's competition authority ruled that Isavia should allocate four slots to WOW Air, but this ruling was brought by Isavia and Icelandair to the Competition Appeals Committee, which has suspended the issue pending the Committee's deliberations.
WOW Air is therefore forced to keep its planning of launch of flights to Boston from this spring on ice till further notice.
