Jan 21, 2014 (newstodate): The new airline under formation, Greenland Express is now training and recruiting aircraft crews.
The first batch of cockpit crews has started training in Holland, and recruitment of cabin crew is underway.
-Our first team comprises three cockpit crews including six pilots that have now started Embraer 195 training at Denim Air's base in Holland, in cooperation with Embraer, says Gert Brask, Greenland Express CEO.
-We would of course love to have Greenlandic pilots on the team, and this will remain a goal in the longer term. But for a start we have hired Dutch and Danish pilots to fill the cockpit positions in the first phase of operations.
-The next step now also underway will be hiring of cabin crews that will include Danish, Greenlandic and Icelandic staff. Both cockpit and cabin crews will then be ready for launch of services in spring 2014, with start date of operations, routes, rates and schedules soon to be announced, says Mr Brask.
