Jan 24, 2014 (newstodate): Delivery of the first Airbus A320 aircraft for the Latvian carrier Alpha Express Airlines is now imminent.
-The aircraft has now finished the pre-delivery maintenance work on the aircraft which did last longer than originally anticipated, but the painting has also now been completed and we expect to receive the aircraft by February 1, 2014, says Rolands Ramins, Alpha Express Airlines Managing Director.
-Also we are now negotiating with a leasing company for adding a second Airbus A320 aircraft to follow by March or April 2014, and beyond that we don't have specific plans for the near future.
-We have no thoughts of scheduled services but will focus on charter and ACMI operations, and projects are already maturing for our new Airbus aircraft once it has been delivered, says Mr Ramins.
The carrier was registered in 2012 and took delivery of its first aircraft in 2013 - an ex-Georgian Star International Airbus A300F4-200 freighter that was stationed in Sharjah.
But after a brief period, the carrier pulled out from the freighter market, seeing more business prospects in the charter and ACMI segments for passenger aircraft.
