Jan 16, 2014 (newstodate): Estonian Air has time till 2015 to decide on its future aircraft fleet composition.
In the fleet now are four Embraer E-170 aircraft, three of which are leased from Finnair, as well as three Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.
-The current traffic by Estonian Air is, however, based on the production of five aircraft, so we have two aircraft more than immediately needed, says Ilona Eskelinen, Estonian Air PR manager.
-One aircraft is kept for back-up to ensure smooth operations, and one Embraer aircraft has now been placed in the market for ACMI and other operations marketed by our partner, the UK company Air Charter Service, says Ms Eskelinen.
The redundant Embraer aircraft has been placed with Air Lituanica under a contract that was, however, abruptly terminated from November 28, 2013 as the two parties ceased their cooperation over financial disagreements.
In August 2012 Estonian Air contracted the UK-based aircraft finance, procurement, re-marketing and fleet asset protection company Skytech-AIC to manage the sale of the three Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, but this did not produce any result.
