Jan 09, 2014 (newstodate): Emirates has till to see a major break-through in the Sweden airfreight market, as seen from the IATA CASS-statistics.
In November 2013, the carrier generated 682 tonnes of cargo in the Swedish market, an increase by 5.4 percent, y-o-y, securing a position as #5 in the ranking.
In October 2013, volumes were down 9.2 percent to 616 tonnes, in September volumes by Emirates were 659 tonnes, up 3.4 percent, and in August 2013 volumes were 477 tonnes, down 17.4 percent, y-o-y.
Since September 4, 2013, Emirates has online with daily flights between Dubai and Stockholm using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft offering some 238 tonnes of weekly lower-deck capacity to the Swedish market.
The new belly cargo capacity comes on top of Emirates SkyCargo's three weekly Boeing 777 freighter rotations between Gothenburg and Dubai, launched in 2003.
The introduction of the belly capacity on the passenger flights has thus had only limited effect on Emirates' position in Sweden IATA export cargo market.
