Jan 06, 2014 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport managed to raise the level in air cargo volumes again in 2013, landing at an all-time high.
A total of 63,420 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport's cargo center, an increase by 2.8 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the new record was a 10 percent hike in exports, 35,686 tonnes, while imports lagged behind last your by 5.1 percent, to 27,734 tonnes.
From the start of the year, imports were hit by the general decline in the market, but did recover towards the end of the year, while exports also started out rather slow while growing fast during most of the year.
In December 2013, the airport was handling 22.6 percent more airfreight than in 2012, growing to 4,605 tonnes including 1,894 tonnes of imports, up 17.7 percent, and 2,711 tonnes of exports, up 26.2 percent, y-o-y.
