Jan 27, 2014 (newstodate): Shanghai was by far Sweden's largest IATA export cargo destination in 2013, according to CASS statistics.
A total of 9,267 tonnes of Swedish export cargo was destined for Shanghai which was 5.2 percent up on the preceding year.
Revenue-wise, the Chinese destination gained 17.5 percent, and rates were up by 11.7 percent, y-o-y.
Second in volumes was Chicago with 6,679 tonnes, up 14.4 percent, y-o-y, while revenues were up only 1.3 percent as the average rates dropped by 11.5 percent, y-o-y.
#3, Newark, performed better with 4,470 tonnes which was up 71.1 percent - the highest among the top-25 destinations, and here revenues increased by 83.6 percent as the average rate increased by 7.3 percent, y-o-y.
#4 was Seoul with volumes up only 1.1 percent to 4,164 tonnes. Revenues were, however, up 10.6 percent as rates increased by 9.5 percent.
#5, Tokyo, generated 3,503 tonnes which was down 1.6 percent while revenues increased by 8.3 percent as rates were up by 10.1 percent, y-o-y.
