Sep 04, 2013 (newstodate): A leading Danish union 3F that organizes also employees with the SAS Group's handling arm, SGH says in its staff media that it may take more than two years before the announced acquisition by Swissport takes effect.
According to the release issued in March 2013, Swissport will take over both management and operations of the joint-venture with SGH prior to the eventual full acquisition expected by the end of 2013.
As the latest published move in the process, SGH was corporatized separately in each of the three Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway and Sweden with effect from September 1, 2013, under a holding company.
According to industry sources, this might indicate that the take-over by Swissport will be implemented country-by-country, leaving SGH Denmark with some 4,000 staff serving SAS' main Scandinavian hub at Copenhagen Airport last to be merged with Swissport.
Today's SAS Group Interim report November 2012 - July 2013 comprises these words on the sale of SGH:
-In the autumn, we will continue the work with outsourcing Ground Handling, which comprises a crucial long-term measure to exchange fixed costs for variable costs and, thereby, further increase operational flexibility.
