Sep 11, 2013 (newstodate): The long drawn-out legal fight by Swissport to recover its legal position on the former JV with Ukraine International Airlines will pass another way-point on September 18, 2013.
This date has been set for the court appeal hearing at Ukraine's Highest Economic Court - but prior to this, the hearing has been postponed no less than seven times on dubious causes after only few minutes. Besides, the panel of judges has been changed three times without prior notice.
-Swissport is indeed most dissatisfied with Ukraine's judicial system that allows for obvious delay tactics, and we also find it highly unusual to hear beforehand of the outcome of a court appeal, says Mark Skinner, Swissport Senior Vice President Ground Handling.
-Also in regard to the next court session, we are told by well-informed sources that the ruling will go against Swissport.
-Should this be the case, we will however determinedly continue to fight for our rights. We will push the case through the efforts of the Swiss and French embassies in Ukraine as well as the governments of these countries, and we will eventually bring the case before the EU Commission.
-We will most certainly not give up, even considering the high costs in time and resources required to fight this obvious violation of the rights of a foreign investor, says Mr Skinner.
