Sep 12, 2013 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines has strengthened its hold over the handling company Interavia, until April 2013 Swissport Ukraine - the now collapsed JV with Swissport.
While Swissport has appealed UIA's take-over of its assets to the country's Highest Economic Court that is slated to announce its final verdict on September 18, 2013 unless postponed for the 8th time, UIA has increased Interavia's share capital, diluting its former partner's ownership share from 70.6 percent to less than one percent.
-This of course makes it even more difficult for us to regain control over the company, says Mark Skinner, Swissport Senior Vice President Ground Handling.
-In the meantime, some of the carriers handled by Interavia say that they do not feel comfortable with the situation as the handling company, now completely controlled by UIA, has lost its neutrality and is instead actively trying to influence the market.
-Further, indications are that Kiev Boryspil Airport is also not happy with the development, seeing the quality of handling services towards passengers deteriorating after the take-over by UIA.
-In addition, we have seen that the top management of the handling company has also left its positions, also adding to the instability of the situation, says Mr Skinner.
