Sep 03, 2013 (newstodate): Norwegian did not disappoint expectations for new intercontinental route openings, announced at today's press conference.
Starting from February 28, 2014, the carrier will offer two weekly rotations on a route between Copenhagen Airport and New York, increasing to four rotations per week from April 30, 2014.
And from March 1, 2014, Norwegian will also launch flights between Copenhagen and Los Angeles with two weekly rotations, going up to three rotations from May 1, 2014.
From Stockholm, Norwegian is to offer two weekly rotations between Stockholm Arlanda and Los Angeles from March 2, 2013, increasing to three weekly rotations from April 30, 2014.
The carrier will also launch flights from Stockholm to San Francisco from May 3, 2014,with two weekly rotations on the route.
Effective from May 28, 2014, Norwegian will add flights from Oslo Gardermoen Airport to San Francisco, offering three weekly rotations, and from May 29, 2014, Norwegian will add flights from Oslo to Orlando with two weekly rotations on the route.
Introducing its first long-haul flights in May 2013, Norwegian currently operates six weekly flights between Scandinavia and New York as well as five weekly flights between Scandinavia and Bangkok.
In November, the airline will commence flights from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen to Fort Lauderdale, FL.
All intercontinental routes will be operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, two of which are already in the fleet with a third to be delivered later in the autumn.
So far, orders have been placed for a total of eight Boeing 787 aircraft.
