Sep 09, 2013 (newstodate): Russia's Khabarovsk Novy Airport will open a tender for design of a new terminal.
The open tender will call for interested applicants to acquire the tender documents till October 15, 2013, after which the second round in the process will be started.
Plans are to design the 45,000 sq m terminal within 10 months, and the selected design work would then be completed by August 2014.
The new terminal will provide handling of domestic and international passengers, bringing the airport's capacity to 4 mio.
The terminal is an element in the long-term infrastructure program for the airport, developed by Lufthansa Consulting on a contract with Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport that manages the airport at both Khabarovsk and Vladivostok.
Based on the report from Lufthansa Consulting, Khabarovsk Airport will see its prime role as a hub in Russia's Far East for provision of international passenger and cargo traffic, while Vladivostok will primarily be developed as a hub serving international carrier's passenger and cargo air transport needs.
