Sep 26, 2013 (newstodate): Plans by ULS In Estonia for selling the cargo capacity ex-Tallinn on the return leg to Istanbul to optimize the freighter operations seem to have been stalled.
During the season, ULS normally operates 35-40 monthly freighters from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Tallinn Airport carrying shipments destined for the Russian market, and plans were to use the capacity on the return flights to carry export shipments via Istanbul offering transfer options via Istanbul in cooperation with other airlines.
This would, however, require ULS to become a member of the IATA Clearing House - and while ULS Estonia has been pushing hard on this issue, the carrier's HQ has finally decided not to proceed on this issue.
Without membership of the IATA Clearing House, procedures and agreements would have be established bi-laterally, rendering the concept impracticable.
