Sep 05, 2013 (newstodate): Moldova's Chisinau International Airport has been up for sale through a tender process now completed.
Winner of the tender for 49 years of management of the airport is a Russian regional airport holding group Komax, that is also behind Khabarovsk Airport.
Among the immediate obligations facing the new airport managing company will be the reconstruction of the runway, new taxiways, new passenger and cargo terminals, an airport hotel and parking facilities.
The eventual sales process has, however, not been fully completed.
The Russian company has still prove that it is capable of investing up to 240 mio euros in the projects.
If not, the process will be re-started with the opening of a fresh tender.
According to industry sources, seven international companies signed up for participation in the tender - but five eventually retreated, including a French, a Spanish, a UK and a US airport company.
