Sep 11, 2013 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo is readying for performing its first e-freight tests in Denmark.
-Together with one or two major forwarders, we will perform a series of pilot tests on selected lanes within the EU which provides a convenient environment for this purpose, says Michael Schoop, Lufthansa Cargo Country Manager Denmark.
-During 2012 the pertinent data systems were implemented, and full data quality compliance has now reached as high as between 95 and 100 percent, boding well for the process.
-All issues with the Danish Transport Authority and the Danish Customs have been settled, so it is now really up to the parties in the airfreight industry themselves to set e-freight in motion.
-Understandably, much attention has been focused on the implementation of the new EU security requirements in 2013. This may be the reason behind the relatively limited efforts so far towards the implementation of IATA's e-freight that is anyhow to be completed in 2014, says Mr Schoop.
