Sep 09, 2013 (newstodate): Serbia may rejoice at the rejuvenating of its national carrier, now named Air Serbia and cooperating with its new owner, Etihad.
The country will, however, have to wait further for an upgrade to Category I status by FAA Flight Standards Service.
In its latest revision of the scheme published on August 28, 2013, Serbia remains a Category II country as sub-standard in aviation safety barring any service by a Serbia-registered aircraft carrier into North American airports.
Serbia shares fate with Montenegro and Ukraine as the only European countries still remaining in FAA's Category II.
