Sep 10, 2013 (newstodate): A tender for managing and operating an airport in southern Denmark is soon to be opened.
The owner of Vojens/Skrydstrup Airport, Haderslev Municipality is in the last stage of deciding on a tender to attract an operator of the commercial part of the airport that is dominated by the Danish Air Force and housing a squadron of F-16 fighters.
-The final decision is imminent, and we expect the tender to open by the end of September and running for one or one-and-a-half month, says Kurt Lopdrup, Haderslev Municipality chief consultant.
-The proposed 20-year contract will take effect from January 1, 2014, aiming at selecting a future airport management capable of identifying new commercial aviation business opportunities, primarily in the passenger, taxi flights, charter and GA segments, while we do not foresee cargo operations to be a significant part of the business plan unless one or two large importing companies might be interested in landing shipments here, says Mr Lopdrup.
Vojens/Skrydstrup Airport has two runways at 3,006 and 2,971m, respectively, and all infrastructure and services including ATC, de-icing etc are provided under a contract with the military operator.
