Sep 06, 2013 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is firmly on its course towards profitability by 2014.
The airline has published its H1 2013 figures showing net profits at 1.37 mio euro in Q2, 2013, seen against a loss at 10.15 mio euro in Q2, 2012.
In this year's first half, airBaltic has thus achieved a net profit at minus 12.45 mio euro seen against a loss in H1 2012 by 33.57 mio euro.
The net results from H1 2013 is thus an improvement by 21.12 mio euro and signals clear prospects for a return to profitability in 2014 - even ahead of the schedule set by the ongoing restructuring program, airBaltic ReShape launched in May 2012.
The program comprises strict cost control, capacity management and enhanced efficiency across the board.
