Sep 10, 2013 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic will take delivery of its first of 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft by the end of 2015.
-The first delivery will take place by December 2015, and during 2016 the fleet will grow to 10 aircraft, says Martin Gauss, airBaltic CEO.
-After that, we still hold options for a further 10 aircraft and I foresee that we will exercise at least three of these in the short term.
-When we placed the 10 firm orders, we were actually convinced that more aircraft would be needed, but due to financial restraints we stuck to this volume. Even options require an upfront down-payment, and our situation did not at that time allow for more acquisitions, says Mr Gauss.
The CS-series aircraft is still to perform its maiden flight, now expected within a week depending on the actual weather situation.
