Aug 14, 2013 (newstodate): KLM/Air France is conspicuously absent in the Baltic markets - and has no imminent plans for a return.
-We have no cargo business in the Baltic markets. Two years ago we reassessed the situation, but decided not to pursue this further. This does not, however, preclude that we might review the issue again at a future date, says Noud Duyzings, Director KLM/Air France/Martinair Cargo Nordic.
From June 29, 2009, KLM left the Baltic market entirely with the last Baltic route between Amsterdam and Riga, Latvia, operated for the last time on June 28. 2009.
Prior to that, KLM closed its route to Tallinn, Estonia, and Vilnius, Lithuania.
KLM's services to the Baltic region started with a code-share agreement with Lithuanian Airlines from 2003, followed by the opening of flights to Riga from May 31, 2004, and to Tallinn from May 28, 2005.
