Aug 19, 2013 (newstodate): Slovenia's ambitions of building its airport at Ljubljana into a so-called "Aeropolis" may run aground.
Construction of a new large passenger terminal at Ljubljana Jose Pucnik Airport was to be completed by summer 2015.
The coming 31,200 sq m terminal was designed to handling of 1,800 passengers per hour, replacing the existing terminal that has reached the ceiling of its capacity.
Now, the Slovenian government will decide in September whether to go ahead with the project as doubts have been cast over the profitability of the project.
And in the meantime, the governments has also decided to put the airport up for sale in 2013 because of the growing state deficit.
