Aug 01, 2013 (newstodate): While the Sukhoi Super 100 is still in its early phase of market penetration, plans are already maturing for designing a new version, the Super 100NG.
The Russian government has decided that there will be a need for a Russian commercial aircraft to fill the gap between the current version of the Superjet 100 and the coming Irkut MC-21, translating into a new version of the Superjet 100 with capacity lift 90 to 160 passengers against the 75-95 seats now being offered.
The MC-21 will be designed to seat 180-212 passengers and has not yet performed its first flight while first delivery is tentatively by 2017, while the Superjet 100NG will probably be in the air from 2019-20.
