Aug 16, 2013 (newstodate): Cargo volumes handled at Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport are rising fast in 2013.
During the first seven months of this year, the airport handled a total of 67,342 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 14.9 percent, y-o-y.
Volumes rose especially fast in July with an increase by no less than 40.1 percent, y-o-y, to 10,982 tonnes - including 7,626 tonnes of international cargo that was up 38 percent.
During January-July 2013, international cargo through the airport was up 15.2 percent, to a total of 48,167 tonnes.
Contributing to the airport's impressive cargo growth is not least Qatar Airways that launched flights to Oslo on October 5, 2011, increasing to daily rotations from January 1, 2013 and lifting some 1,000-1,500 tonnes per month on its route from Doha.
Volumes have also been boosted by Asiana's twice-weekly freighter services since September 7, 2012.
