Aug 23, 2013 (newstodate): Sweden has registered a new airline: Saab AB.
The Saab company has a 75 years long history in Swedish aviation as an aircraft manufacturer as well as an aircraft leasing company among several other aviation-related activities.
Now, Saab AB has landed its own AOC as well as an operating license, allowing it free to operate as a commercial carrier.
The carrier does not, however, intend to launch commercial passenger transportation.
-Within the Saab Group are a handful of aircraft supporting the Group's activities, says Helene Lindstrand, Media Relations Manager, Saab Press Centre Group Communications.
-Establishing an airline will allow us to manage this fleet cost-efficiently, but we certainly do not intend to launch an airline for any other purposes than this.
-With our own AOC we can, however, stretch the use of our aircraft beyond strict Group-related missions, and this is the basic idea behind Saab AB, says Ms Lindstrand.
