Aug 09, 2013 (newstodate): Lithuania's new carrier Air Lituanica is now firmly established on its own feet - or rather wings - as a fully-fledged carrier.
Air Lituanica thus received its own AOC on June 26, 2013, allowing it to operate own aircraft, and on August 5, 2013, Lithuania's Civil Aviation Administration issued the Commercial Activity License for Air Lituanica by which the carrier can also now sell tickets on its own flights.
-We may thus now operate entirely by ourselves, but this does not mean that we will not operate together with Estonian Air, says Sandra Meskauskaite, Air Lituanica Communication Manager.
-The development will rather be that some flights will in the future be operated by ourselves, while other flights will continue to be operated together with Estonian Air, says Ms Meskauskaite.
Air Lituanica has wet-leased an Embraer E170 aircraft from Estonian Air until the end of 2015, and Air Lituanica flights are marketed under Air Lituanica's brand and operated with Estonian Air flight numbers and crews.
In addition to aircraft lease, the airlines also cooperate in providing commercial services, like sales of tickets on point-to-point and connecting flights, revenue management, interline and code-share agreements.
