Aug 02, 2013 (newstodate): Serbia's national carrier has a new name, new management, new aircraft - new everything...
On August 1, 2013, Etihad Airways formally took ownership of 49 percent of the stake in Serbia's JAT, and the carrier is now branded as Air Serbia.
New in the commander' seat is Dane Kondic as CEO, the route network will increase from JAT's 33 destinations to 45 also through the code-share arrangements with Etihad Airways and its equity partner Air Berlin.
Backed by Etihad loans and investments, JAT's fleet of 10 Boeing 737-300 aircraft will be phased out, and Air Serbia will instead have a fleet of 10 leased Airbus A320 Family aircraft, primarily A319.
The carrier's own route network will comprise flights from Belgrade to Abu Dhabi, Banja Luka, Beirut, Bucharest, Budapest, Cairo, Kiev, Ljubljana, Prague, Sofia, Varna, and Warsaw.
