Aug 23, 2013 (newstodate): As has been the case with several new aircraft lately, the Bombardier CSeries aircraft program is also running late.
Latest news is an extension of the flight-test program of the CSeries by about another months, to May 2015, with EIS later the same year.
Initially, Bombardier expected the aircraft to be available by 2013.
The first version of the new CSeries aircraft, the CS100 is now expected to perform its delayed first flight within the coming weeks, running one year late on the original schedule.
Among the customers to order the larger version, the CS300, is Latvia's airBaltic that by the end of 2012 firmed up its order for delivery of 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft, with deliveries slated to start by Q4, 2015.
The latest delay to the CSeries program will probably also have an impact on the timing of the EIS and start of deliveries.
So far 12 airlines and leasing companies have signed up for the two versions of the CSeries aircraft, of which at least six are placed higher up the list as for delivery times.
Six customers have selected the CS300, and here airBaltic was second-latest to place its order, with four others signing up earlier than this carrier.
So far, Bombardier has landed orders for 62 CS100 and 114 CS300 aircraft.
