Aug 13, 2013 (newstodate): So far, KLM/AF Cargo is generally satisfied with its performance in the Danish market in 2013.
-The development has been fairly good for us, with the market starting out promisingly in 2013 and performing well, volume-wise, until May, says Noud Duyzings, Director KLM/Air France/Martinair Cargo Nordic.
-Now, we have seen the market slowing down after the start of the summer season. June and July were indeed very weak in volumes declining by 16-18 percent and revenues down some 13 percent.
-We will obviously have to wait till further into the autumn season to see whether this trend will reverse. The question is: is the slow-down from June/July a seasonal trend only, or will it prove to be more serious?
-My guess is that we will see the market bouncing back, though, as several industries are reporting indications of growth.
-Our sales in the Danish market comprise general cargo mainly, but we are seeing much variation among the different industries, reflecting the fact that the market is comprised by a large number of small and medium-size enterprises with only a few large exporting companies in specific industries, says Mr Duyzings.
