Aug 08, 2013 (newstodate): How many airports can boast of sustained unbroken increase in cargo volumes for the last 41 months?
This is at least the case with Sweden's Jonkoping Airport that again saw its cargo volumes up by five percent, y-o-y, in June 2013, and by six percent in July 2013.
A total of 1,596 tonnes of "in-night" cargo was thus handled during H1 2013, with the international cargo by TNT/Time:matters up 21 percent on H1 2012.
-Actually, our monthly growth rate has now stabilized around 5-6 percent with volumes between 250 and 300 tonnes per month as the capacity of the freighter aircraft used by TNT and Time:matters has reached the ceiling, says Herman Larsson Jonkoping Airport AB Marketing Manager.
The airport's over-all passenger volumes are also increasing by 16 percent, y-o-y, in H1 2013, not least thanks to the introduction of Ryanair's new route to Girona from April 2013.
International passenger volumes were thus up by 33 percent in May, by 68 percent in June - and by 60 percent in July 2013.
The airport's domestic passenger volumes are also recovering after the demise of Skyways in May 2012.
This volume was thus up 66 percent in June 2013 compared to last year.
