Aug 15, 2013 (newstodate): Icelandair is to move its Boeing 757 pilot training to its home base at Keflavik Airport.
So far the carrier has sent its pilots for simulator training abroad, mainly to simulator facilities at SAS Flight Academy, in Denmark.
But Icelandair will now invest in an own Boeing 757 simulator which will reduce costs and time consumption significantly.
The new simulator is to be acquired from the Florida-based US company Opinicus Corporation, and will become operational with Icelandair by Q4, 2014.
The Icelandair Group operates a fleet of 23 Boeing 757 aircraft, including four Boeing 757-200F freighter aircraft.
