Aug 15, 2013 (newstodate): Prospects for continued development of Serbia's latest new commercial airport are brightening.
Kraljevo-Ladevci Airport opened for commercial operations from October 2012, but has so far not been able to attract regular airline traffic.
Originally a military air force base in the country's industrial region Krajelvo Municipality, the airport's existing 2,200 m runway has been broadened and extended to 2,750 m, a new ATC tower has been built as well as a new passenger terminal, with the projects supported by Turkish investments, USAid and the Serb state.
The prospects are seen mainly in the air cargo business, and a Gulf-based company Global Capital Advisors Management has now signed an agreement with the Serb government that includes financial support to the sustained development of Kraljevo-Ladevci Airport's cargo facilities.
