Aug 20, 2013 (newstodate): Qatar Airways has contracted a new cargo handling provider at Denmark's Copenhagen Airport.
Earlier served by Spirit Air Cargo Handling, Qatar Airways is now handled by WFS Denmark, starting from July 15, 2013.
Qatar Airways launched flight on the route from Doha to Copenhagen on March 30, 2010, initially offering four weekly flights between Doha and Copenhagen using Airbus A319 aircraft.
From May 2010, the frequency was increased to daily flights with Airbus A330 aircraft - and starting from September 1, 2013, Qatar Airways will introduce the Boeing 787 aircraft on the routes to Copenhagen as well as to Oslo, in Norway.
From the start of services, the carrier has been high on the top of IATA's monthly export airfreight statistics in the Nordic region, lifting some 500-600 tonnes of export cargo from Denmark as well as another 1,500-1,600 tonnes of export cargo from Norway.
The introduction of the Boeing 787 aircraft replacing the Airbus A330 will, however, reduce the carrier's cargo capacity somewhat.
