Aug 13, 2013 (newstodate): Is the Gulf carrier Etihad planning to spread its influence wider into Europe's aviation scene?
At least press reports have it that Etihad is now in dialogue with the Polish state over an acquisition of a stake in the country's carrier, LOT Polish Airlines.
So far, though, no official comments are available from either party.
Etihad has just inked the agreement to take over 49 percent of the stake in the Serb carrier JAT, and has also acquired stakes in Air Berlin and Aer Lingus.
In either case, non-EU carriers can only hold a maximum of 49 percent of the shares in an airline under EU registration.
