Aug 23, 2013 (newstodate): Russia is considered an important market for Finnair using its Helsinki hub for transfer to the carrier's intercontinental routes.
Finnair has long been serving the route from Helsinki to Moscow, adding flights to St Petersburg from June 2, 2008, and to Yekaterinburg from September 2, 2008.
But the carrier would be keen to open up flights to more Russian destination pending new agreements between the two states, which is a lengthy process due to Russian bureaucracy.
On Finnair's wishing-list for new Russian destinations are Petrozavodsk, Kazan, Ufa, and Perm.
