By September, Etihad Airlines, the new owner of the Serb carrier JAT now re-named Air Serbia, will take its seats in the top management of the company after acquiring 49 percent of the stake.
Now sources claim that Garuda Indonesia is willing to take a similar stake in the Bosnian carrier B&H Airlines that is to go up for sale.
The Bosnian state will reportedly open a tender for 49 percent of the shares in B&H Airlines, with the first round calling for interested parties to acquire the tender materials to open by October 2013 and a final round for handing in final bids to open by February 2014.
At least high-level talks have already been tabled between state officials from both sides, and Garuda seems intent on getting a foothold in the EU region.
Also in the Balkan region, the Croatian government has decided to launch a tender for sale of its national carrier Croatia Airlines.
The tender procedures will be opened on October 15, 2013, and will reportedly run till February 2014 before negotiations with a successful winner can be completed.
In addition, China Southern Airlines is reportedly keen on acquiring Slovenia's Adria Airways that has been put up for sale among 15 other national assets by the Slovenian state.
Slovenian media cites Adria Airways' CEO for confirming the rumor that has long been circulating in the industry, and the Chinese company would also intend to acquire the country's capital airport, Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport.
