Aug 26, 2013 (newstodate): Air Greenland has won a follow-up contract with US Air Force for providing flights servicing the US base at Thule.
The schedule to serve Thule AFB comprises flights using Air Greenland's Airbus A330 on the route between Thule and Copenhagen, Denmark, every 4th week, as well as bi-weekly flights between Thule and Kangerlussuaq with a Dash 8 aircraft connecting to the carrier's Atlantic flights between Greenland and Denmark.
Besides, the contract also comprises capacity allotments on other Air Greenland flights as well as cargo capacity between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen Airport.
The five-year contract has been won in a tender process, and Air Greenland has now held the contract for more than nine years running, succeeding SAS that retreated from serving the route between Copenhagen and Kangerlussuaq in 2003.
