Jul 30, 2013 (newstodate): During the first half of this year, Russia's Big Five further bolstered their dominating position in the country's airline cargo business.
Combined, the five carriers AirBridgeCargo, Aeroflot, Volga-Dnepr, Transaero and Sibir increased their share of the market from last year's H1 at 73.5 to 76 percent during January-June 2013, accounting for a total of 362,540 tonnes.
#1 in the league, AirBridgeCargo lifted 196,162 tonnes and up 13.1 percent, y-o-y, Aeroflot followed with 91,449 tonnes and unchanged, Volga-Dnepr 29,163 tonnes but down 17.2 percent, Transaero 29,001 tonnes and 5.9 percent, and Sibir 16,766 tonnes and down 0.6 percent, y-o-y.
Counting all together, the total market of Russian carriers saw the combined tonnage at 477,136 tonnes down two percent, y-i-y, during the first six months of this year.
