Jul 23, 2013 (newstodate): With handling of 23,100 tonnes of cargo during H1, Poland's Warsaw Chopin Airport Chopin Airport set a new record in 2013.
The volumes handled during the period were up 8.5 percent over last year's performance.
Included in the totals were 22,700 tonnes of international cargo, up 8.8 percent, and 308 tonnes of domestic cargo, down 5.1 percent.
Imports were 13,300 tonnes, and exports accrued to 9,400 tonnes. Mail volumes were 7,400 tonnes.
The most popular cargo destinations to and from Warsaw included Cologne with 4,100 tonnes, Leipzig 2,900 tonnes, Chicago 1,500 tonnes, Dubai 1,400 tonnes and New York 1,300 tonnes.
The biggest cargo carriers were LOT Polish Airlines with 7,300 tonnes, UPS Airlines 5,100 tonnes, European Air Transport 2,900 tonnes, Emirates 1,400 tonnes and Air Contractors 1,050 tonnes.
In 2012 the airport handled a total of 45,000 tonnes, the biggest volume so far.
