Jul 31, 2013 (newstodate): The privately-financed Hungarian airline venture, Solyom Airways has now been granted its IATA radio call sign, but has still to receive its AOC.
The carrier has revealed ambitious plans for a fleet of 12 aircraft before the end of the year and claims to be negotiating the acquisition of 22 Airbus wide-body aircraft.
In the first phase, Solyom Airways has signed a lease contract comprising six Boeing 737-500 aircraft, the first of which will arrive on August 18, 2013, and scheduled for the first commercial flight by October - which, however, requires the AOC-issue to be solved.
Initially, the route network will comprise 22 destinations including six European capitals that are, however, not yet specified.
