Jul 23, 2013 (newstodate): The long-standing dispute between Serbia's JAT and Airbus over eight Airbus A319 aircraft ordered during the earlier Milosovic regime has now finally found a solution.
JAT's new owner, Etihad has accepted to take over the order, facilitating the speedy delivery of the eight aircraft to its new partner, JAT.
In 1998, JAT inked a contract worth USD 400 million with Airbus for purchase of eight A319 aircraft and paid USD 23 million up front. Since thence, Serbia has been struggling unsuccessfully with Airbus to cancel the order and get the down-payment back.
Pending the delivery of the new Airbus aircraft, JAT is to take in two Boeing 737-300 aircraft as a temporary measure to meet the current demand in the market for air transportation.
