Jul 24, 2013 (newstodate): With its first commercial operation on June 21, 2013, Lithuania's new carrier Grand Cru Airlines is already seeing encouraging results.
-We started flights only one day after obtaining our AOC, and since the the aircraft has logged 350 block hours, indicating a high rate of utilization and a flawless operation, Aleksandr Celiadin, Grand Cru Airlines CCO and Deputy CEO.
-Latest news is that we have now also been granted our commercial license and are thus fully certified to perform any type of commercial aircraft operation including full-charters.
-Our second Boeing 737-300 aircraft to be registered as LY-GGC is currently being refurbished and painted in our own livery and will start operating with us by the second half of this month.
-Our first aircraft has been operating wet-lease flights ex-Vilnius on weekdays, and ex-European markets, primarily UK, during weekends, but the second aircraft will be dedicated to full-charter operations from Vilnius for Lithuanian tour operators.
-We out-source all technical and other services at stations outside Lithuania, leaving us with full flexibility to enter and exit European markets without further obligations and costs once commitments end.
-After this first season we will carefully evaluate our performance and decide on next steps, including the addition of a third aircraft that will definitely be needed by summer 2014. So far we have our capacity fully booked and commitments for the coming season as well.
-We would love to see an Airbus A320 as our third aircraft, but leasing costs are of course much higher for this type, compared to the Boeing 737-300. The outcome from our evaluation will show if the Airbus aircraft will be an option for us, says Mr Celiadin.
