Jul 24, 2013 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport has seen its cargo volumes booming in June 2013, securing another record year.
A total of 7,055 tonnes of cargo was handled in June 2013, up no less than 108.8 percent, y-o-y.
The steep growth was thanks to intense flight operations by US carriers supporting the ISAF forces with transportation of supplies and equipment via Riga.
"Other carriers" thus lifted a total of 5,866 tonnes of cargo, 83 percent of the total through-put during the month.
In H1/2013 the airport has thus handled 22,160 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 27.2 percent, y-o-y.
