Jun 28, 2013 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines has contracted Strike Aviation as its cargo GSSA in Lithuania.
-The contract took effect from June 1, 2013, and we are most satisfied with developments right from the start, says Andrius Antanaitis, JSC Strike Aviation LT General Manager.
-There is a strong interest in this new offer among Lithuania's freight forwarders that are especially using the carrier's cargo capacity via Kiev onward to destinations including notably Dubai, Moscow, Baku, Kazakhstan and Tbilisi.
-Cargo capacity on UIA's daily flight with Boeing 737-500 aircraft is limited to some 1,000 kg and this has already produced backlogs on several occasions. We will have to wait and see how this develops and then find ways to cope with the situation.
-Options are to set up road feeder services from Vilnius to either Vienna, where UIA operates all-cargo flights, or to Kiev, but it is still too early to decide on which way to go, says Mr Antanaitis.
