Jun 19, 2013 (newstodate): Little news has reached the market on the coming acquisition by Swissport of SAS Group's handling companies SGH and Spirit Air Cargo Handling since the signing of a LoI on March 7, 2013.
As a first step, the parties intend to set up a JV company (Swissport holding 51 and SAS 49 percent of the shares) to which the business and operations of SAS ground handling and Spirit cargo handling will be transferred.
According to the release issued in March, Swissport will take over both management and operations of the joint-venture with Spirit prior to the eventual full acquisition expected by the end of 2013.
But - how far has the process advanced?
-The outsourcing of SAS Ground Handling including Spirit Air Cargo Handling in Sweden, Norway and Denmark is a relatively complex agreement, and it takes some time to set up all necessary processes.
-The discussions have continued, next steps will be defined in due course, but there are currently no further details to report, is the tight-lipped Swissport spokesperson's response to newstodate's call for an update on the process.
