SAAB's new offensive builds on the recent acquisitions of the US company Sensis and the Dutch company HITT that are already both involved in major programs in India, including ground movement control systems at the airports of Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.
Now branded Saab India Technologies, the company is to market its remote ATC tower concept in India, initially targeting airports with between two and 50 daily flights where ATC costs are high.
Talks are now going on with Airports Authority of India for establishing a first remote ATC tower in India by 2015 on a test basis.
